Insurance Plans

The Virtual Health Clinic accepts most third-party insurance plans for those who do not have OHIP coverage.
Currently, we accept Blue Cross, Guard Me, IFHP as well as UHIP.
To find out if your insurance is eligible, please contact us and we will verify your insurance coverage.

If you have a valid Ontario health card, your consultation with our virtual doctor is covered by OHIP.

If you have valid private insurance such as Guard.Me or UHIP, the consultation is free. We will bill directly to your insurance company*.

If you do not have a valid Ontario health card, the consultation fee is $50.00 CDN (including applicable taxes) payable by credit card prior to your appointment.

* Coverage varies by insurer. Please check your insurance policy for coverage eligibility.

York University students who wish to use their Guard Me insurance will need to email their current valid Guard Me form to our Patient Care Team at operations@virtualhealthclinic.com. Guard Me only covers emergency visits and follow up appointments are not covered.

York University students who wish to use their Blue Cross insurance will need to send a copy of their refugee form to the Patient Care Team at operations@virtualhealthclinic.com. The form needs to have a special numeric/alphabetic code to identify if the patient is covered. The Patient Care Team will check if the patient is eligible for coverage (if the York University student is not covered, they will be charged $50.00 CDN (including applicable taxes) payable by credit card prior to your appointment).

You will need access to a mobile phone, computer or tablet, which has access to the internet, and a valid email address. Prior to your appointment, you will be emailed a link to join the video call with your Medical Provider. If you have booked a telephone visit, the Medical Provider will call you within approximately 15 to 30 minutes of your appointment time. If you experience a delay in the healthcare provider contacting you, please be patient as they may be tending to the patients ahead of you. If you experience a prolonged delay, please email operations@virtualhealthclinic.com and a member of our team can let you know where you in the queue.

Once you have completed the online or phone registration, you can select a convenient time to have your appointment with the Medical Provider. We are open 7-days a week from 8am to 9pm Eastern Standard Time, including statutory holidays.

Our Medical Providers will connect with you within approximately 15 to 30 minutes of your appointment time. If you experience a delay in the healthcare provider contacting you, please be patient as they may be tending to the patients ahead of you. If you experience a prolonged delay please email operations@virtualhealthclinic.com and a member of our team can let you know where you in the queue. If a longer appointment time is required, a member of our team will call you to set up a time where the Medical Provider can dedicate time to address your healthcare concerns.

Yes, our Medical Providers, upon consultation and if required, can refill your prescriptions, even if they were originally prescribed by another Medical Provider not from the Virtual Health Clinic. We do not prescribe controlled substances, addictive substances or sleeping aids.

Yes, our Medical Providers are happy to provide you a digital medical note for work or school, if necessary.

York University students who want to use their UHIP will need to send a copy of their UHIP Member ID card to The Patient Care Team at operations@virtualhealthclinic.com. If the UHIP Member ID card is expired or does not qualify for coverage, the York University student will have to pay $50.00 CDN (including applicable taxes) payable by credit card prior to your appointment.

York University students/student who wish to use their IFHP insurance will need to send a copy of their IFHP insurance and/or Refugee Form to the Patient Care Team at operations@virtualhealthclinic.com. The Patient Care Team will check if the patient is eligible for coverage (if the York University student is not covered, they will be charged $50.00 CDN (including applicable taxes) payable by credit card prior to your appointment).

Yes, all your personal and medical information will only be used by the Virtual Health Clinic Medical Providers and administrators. We encrypt all data using bank level, modern state-of-the-art security to keep your personal information safe and secure.

If you do not have a valid Ontario health card or are an uninsured individual, a valid credit card must be provided before receiving healthcare services from our virtual clinic. In the event that an expired or invalid credit card is provided, the patient will not be booked for a virtual consultation and will not be able to access Healthcare Services. All such payments are to be paid in full prior to your consultation. We accept VISA, MasterCard and American Express.

The Virtual Health Clinic requires you to submit your credit card information prior to the provision of any Healthcare Services for the purpose of validation of the card. You will not be able to begin accessing Healthcare Services through the Virtual Health Clinic Platform if the credit card information you provide is inaccurate and/or if your credit card is declined at the point of validation.

All fees are in Canadian dollars and are inclusive of all applicable taxes, including GST/HST, based on your billing location.

To cancel your appointment, you must email operations@virtualhealthclinic.com with your first name, last name and time of your appointment.

Our system is based on the availability of our Medical Providers who have a set weekly schedule. There is a good chance that you may be able to see the same Medical Provider again. Our Medical Providers do offer continuity of care if you would prefer to follow a specific individual.

Yes, Our Medical Providers are trained and highly qualified to provide mental health support. Our Medical Providers can also refer you to local Mental Health Specialists, if needed, for further assessment, treatment and consultations.

The Virtual Health Clinic is not intended for emergency care. If you are experiencing symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, altered state of consciousness or any injury requiring immediate attention, please call 911 or proceed to the nearest hospital.
